Thames Torso Murders
The Thames Torso Murders, often called the Thames Mysteries or the Embankment Murders, was a series of unsolved murders that took place in London from 1887 to 1889. There were four murders that investigators believe to be committed by the same person. None of the cases have ever been solved and only one of the bodies have been identified.
A woman's remains were discovered in the River Thames near Rainham some between May and June 1887. Workers found a bundle in the river containing the torso of a female. After alerting authorities, various parts of the same body were found throughout the next month. Her hair and upper chest were never found.
